One of THOSE kinds of days...

RECIPE:
  • 1 - highly uncomfortable pregnant lady who hasn't had a good night's sleep in FAR too long
  • 1 - highly energetic toddler who feels the need to utilize the upper ranges of his vocal cords as some part of an obscure torturous game to play with Mommy
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Wake toddler up at 6:00 AM after an especially long, sleepless night for the pregnant lady who can't seem to get comfortable anymore.
  2. Make sure toddler emits high-pitched, ear piercing screeches LOUDLY all morning after waking the pregnant lady.
  3. Continuously keep toddler screeching and mix well until pregnant lady starts to cry and feel like she is going to do bodily harm to such a normally adorable toddler.
Yes, it has been one of those kinds of days. I don't know about anyone else, but when I wake up in the morning, I need to wake up gradually with minimal noise. That was quite the opposite of the treatment I received this morning (which has continued on into the afternoon) from my darling son. I get cranky if things are too loud in the morning (just ask Brandon).

I really don't know what to do about this screeching thing. This new distasteful behavior is going on two weeks of novelty with my son (hopes of the fun wearing off are starting to wane). Nothing seems to drive home the point that we DO NOT SCREAM LIKE THAT IN THE HOUSE - or even outside for that matter. Any type of punishment he just takes in stride like it is all part of this new game he has created. I am so at a loss and so at my wits end.

When I finally break down and cry, he will give me brief respite from his screeching. However this respite is pretty well spoiled by Eli coming up to me and mirroring the way I look and sound when I cry. Yeah, that really makes me feel dumb to see what I look like when I cry. I am already aware that it isn't a pretty picture when I cry, but to have a toddler imitate your crying face, not a pretty picture.

To add to this, Brandon has been super stressed out at work and his boss is demanding he work all sorts of crazy overtime. That makes it pretty hard for Brandon to be at home helping out with Eli while I am finishing this "baking project." And when he is home, he really needs a break too from all the crapola at work. Aye, yi, yi. Something is telling me that things are probably going to continue down this path of insanity for the next little while. Adding a newborn never seems to simplify things in life. Wow. We are in for one heck of a ride.

Just wave your hands in the air! Wave em like you just don't care. Maybe that will make you laugh yourself silly, I am not sure. 50/50 chance.
