Ok, seriously now! This kid they tell me is mine (he keeps following me everywhere and refers to me as "Mommy" but lately I am wondering if he really is mine) has some serious screeching problems!! And to top it all off, a few weeks ago we went to a pet store where there were some guinea pigs, bunnies, and of course, parakeets. He had a blast watching them all. So now he really does know what a parakeet is and what it sounds like. Good job educating your child, Mommy! Yippee!
Here is a sampling of a commonplace screech-fest at our house:
eli: screech and screech until I think my eardrums are ruptured and bleeding
me: HONEY! Please don't screech in the house! It really hurts Mommy's ears! (don't you love how you always refer to yourself in the third person once you become a parent?)
eli: SCREECH, SCREECH, SCREEEEECCCCCHHHH!! Silly parakeet! Silly, noisy kid, huh!
me: Yes, yes you are...
me: go and retrieve some cotton balls to absorb the blood and muffle the little parakeet's call of the wild and start some VERY fervent prayers that I will be able to make it through the rest of the day with at least a tenacious grip on my waning sanity...

Oh my goodness!! I'm feeling a little bad because I think its so funny. (Not fun for you but oh so funny!!!) Sorry you have to hear it all day long. Eli is such a funny kid - you have to post a video of this!!

Sometimes I swear they are just trying to push our buttons until we break. When Kyle has a tantrum and goes on his screaming fits I usually just put him in his room and tells him that when he feels better and wants to talk he can come out. It's worked most of the time. It gives him time to get it all out and feel better. They still don't know how to control agression and their feelings very well. Don't we love those terrrific terrible 2's
