So Proud!

We have been working with Eli and Xander in teaching them to read through the method Glenn Doman teaches in his book I've mentioned earlier, How to Multiply Your Babies Intelligence. This involves making large flashcards and flipping through them really fast with the kids. It seriously takes less than 3 minutes a day to do this program, and they love it!!

So, Eli grabbed one of the stacks of flashcards off the table. These cards were names. He pawed through them and grabbed Mattie's name (our dog). He went up to Mattie and said, "Look Mattie, this is your name!" Then he went through the other cards and with pretty good accuracy picked out different names.

This is such an exciting thing!! Glenn Doman counsels parents not to test your children when you are teaching them because it takes the joy out of learning, because testing really is just finding out what you don't know, not what you do know. He says that your kids will show you what they know if you let them.

Little kids are so incredibly initelligent!! They spend their entire days learning about things. They want more, and more, and more! They want to learn everything about everything. So if your kids are getting grumpy or misbehaving, try setting them aside and teach them something. Get excited about it and they will too.
