Still in Stunned Disbelief

It sure isn't getting any easier for me to believe that my baby will be 1 year old on Friday. In fact, quite the opposite! I am watching him smile with his 6 teeth, walk around like a champ, and even run on occasion, while jabbering his own guttural baby jibber, talk (he has 6 words now - Mommy, Daddy, ball, woof, hi, and baby), and just pretend he is growing up. I don't particularly think it is a very nice game of pretend to play on mommy.

I never thought I would get all gushy about my kids growing up. With Eli, I felt a huge sense of accomplishment and relief as he started hitting milestones. (But then he was a much more challenging baby and it really was a huge accomplishment making it through that first year with him). So I am really quite shocked at the intensity of the feelings I am experiencing as I reminisce on the past year and how quickly it has slipped through my fingers.

Today Xander rode in a forward facing carseat for the first time. He quite enjoyed it. I must say that he did look adorable sitting there looking around, all proud of his grownup-ness. I guess this has induced a bit of a panic that tomorrow I will wake up and my boys will be off to college, or
bringing their babies and wives home to visit me, and on and on! (I'm freaking myself out more).

*Sigh* I guess these feelings really help me to cherish every precious moment I have with them and burn into my mind the painful cuteness of a naked bum running to the bathroom to splash in the tub, the slobbery kisses and slimy hugs, the giggles and grins, and just all the beauty of being able to watch these little people grow into something amazingly magnificent!
