D is for Daddy

Eli is doing pretty well with his letters and recognizes words (I am not sure if that is reading or not). He recognizes the words Contents, Hot Rod, and Bugatti amongst a few others. Whenever he sees the letter D, he says D is for Daddy. I am still working on M is for Mommy - he will repeat it after I have prompted him, but he doesn't do it with the spontaneity of the letter D. He also knows E is for Eli, H is for Hot Rod, and his numbers 1-10. His favorite number is 4. I am not sure why on that one, but he gets oh-so-excited whenever he sees a 4. He loves for me to write words so he can see them. Whenever I have a paper and pen he always asks me to write different things. His favorite words are Amy, Shaun, Chloe, car, Eli, Daddy, Xander, and truck. He throws in a few other random things as well.

His favorite word right now is Zamboni. To be perfectly honest, I didn't know what a Zamboni was until my friend's husband got to ride on one at a hockey game in Vegas. (For those in the same boat as me, a Zamboni is a machine that smooths the ice in skating rinks). We checked out a book at the library with a Zamboni in it. He is totally enthralled and we have to read that book every day!

He still is obsessed with all cars (or anything with wheels, really). He loves to learn the different names and models of all the cars he sees. This kid is incredible! He can differentiate between a Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Isuzu, Subaru etc etc! He is equally enthusiastic about tail pipes at the moment and points out every one he sees. I never thought I would know so much about cars!

what a smart little guy! Brendan will learn his letters and numbers one day....isn't it funny how they get so fascinated with random objects? Who would have guessed a zambone (sp?) would be so intriguing?

Eli is such a BOY! He's getting good at his letters. You should get the Leap Frog video called "The Letter Factory." My little Mia knew all her letters and letter sounds by the time she was 2 just from watching it, and Dallin is ready to start reading short words at 4!
