My Baby is 2!

Where does the time go? It is amazing how when each day tends to merge and blend with another creating an ever changing collage of mommy-hood how quickly so many days all smush together and days become weeks, weeks become months, and months become years. It is like some never ending slippery slope that once started only increases in speed leaving you a bit bewildered and stunned when you realize how much time has passed.

As I hold my little Xander, I am often reminiscing on how tiny Eli was and how it felt to hold him for the first time. I was so nervous to become a mom (okay, it was more like totally freaked out than just plain old nervous). I remember feeling such awe at his smallness and perfection and I was even afraid to kiss him (that soon passed). He had the sweetest new-baby smell that was absolutely intoxicating.

As he has continued to grow, I have continued in a nearly perpetual feeling of awe. He is just so darn smart, it makes me nervous sometimes. It constantly amazes me the things he is absorbing and learning every second of every day. I would even be willing to bet that he has a nighttime learning program going on, too. His little spirit just sparkles and he has such an intense and grown-up feeling about him. He has such an incredible vocabulary and is very adept at expressing his thoughts and feelings. At times, we have to remind ourselves when he is misbehaving that he is only 2 years old.

Things Eli loves:
  • Splashing in puddles - what toddler doesn't love this?
  • Playing outside, whatever the weather (I mean that literally!)
  • Playing with cars, talking about cars, making car noises, looking at real cars and learning their names, how they work, etc...
  • Diggers in all shapes and sizes
  • Meeting new people and learning their names
  • Being chased and ferociously tickled (when the chase gets too intense, he will call a truce by saying "Hi!! Hugs?" and pause the game for hugs while he regroups)
  • Snuggles with Mommy and Daddy before bed
  • Reading books
  • Taking his vitamin before bed and watching anyone else take their vitamins
  • Being Mommy or Daddy's helper in whatever we are doing
  • Bubbles
  • Singing songs
  • The moon
  • The library and Storytime
  • Looking at the ceiling fans at Lowe's
Happy birthday, little man! We are excited to see what you have in store for us this year!

it made me kind of sad when Brendan turned 2...it seems like it went by too fast! Just like you said about the slippery slope...before we know it they will be all grown up. Good thing we have the babies!

You guys have been BUSY! Happy Anniversary - Happy, HAPPY Birthday to Eli - Happy growing little babe whose pictures I can't get enough of! I'm sorry that I have been so flaky about returning your call. Expect one soon. Thank you for thinking of us! Life has been crazy busy. I know it sounds like a lame excuse, but if I laid it all out I think you would agree. I'll be a better friend, though. I love you, lady! And I love your three men.
