Nesting
You know, when you hear about the "maternal nesting instinct" it just sounds a bit wacko! But dang it, experiencing it is even more wacko! It is so aggravating that I am even losing sleep over things that are so irrational. It is true - pregnant women can be more than a bit crazy.
I find myself waking up several times during the night for various reasons. No big deal you say - it is completely normal to be waking due to a wiggling baby, a squashed bladder, an aching back. However, that is not the problem. My problem is that my mind won't shut up when I try to resume my slumber! It is so completely infuriating! For heaven's sake - can't I stop worrying whether I have everything packed in my hospital bag, Eli's overnight bag, whether I need to pre-register at the hospital again, whether I started the dryer before going to bed, what the weather is supposed to be like tomorrow, or if I took that library book back, etc. at least until a decent morning hour? It is more irritating yet that I am starting to feel really tired again, but I CAN'T sleep!
Since our trip to the hospital, this insane instinct has really kicked into overdrive. I guess this will help to "get me used to" sleepless nights with an infant again. Whatever! Sleep deprivation is just something that you never get used to, no matter how much you practice. Maybe that is part of why pregnant women are so crazy! All those hormones added in with sleep deprivation is a surefire recipe for mayhem!

That stinks! So sorry that you are having trouble sleeping. Hope it gets better cuz you definately need to get some sleep before baby arrives!!
On a side note - at least nesting helps you get things done! You seem like you are ready for the little one to make is entrance! :)
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. It's fun to read about your family since we don't know each other well. I understand about the non sleep stuff. My brain just won't shut off and when I think things are winding down, the baby decides to throw a party and stay up all night. Pregnancy is crazy. Good luck though, you sound so prepared already, you make me think about what I need to get done...SOON!:)
